CHAOYE PACKAGING KNOWLEDGE · EXPORT PACKAGING
Plan machinery export packaging with corrosion control, cushioning, load securing, and documentation.
1. Start with the machine and route
Record equipment dimensions, weight, center of gravity, lifting points, exposed metal surfaces, sensitive assemblies, and shipping route. Machinery exports can require different solutions depending on whether cargo travels in a container, on a flat rack, or in a crate.
2. Separate corrosion protection from impact protection
VCI films or bags may help protect compatible metal surfaces when correctly applied, but they do not replace cushioning, blocking, bracing, or other mechanical protection. Each packaging layer should have a defined function.
3. Build a stable load
Select a suitable base or pallet and design restraint for lifting, vibration, and handling. Protect sharp edges and prevent moving components from shifting. Use appropriately specified strapping and stretch film only where they are suitable for the load.
4. Control moisture and contamination
Consider humidity exposure, condensation risk, packing cleanliness, and closure integrity. Where barrier materials or desiccants are used, specify them as part of a coordinated moisture-management plan.
5. Prepare the packing specification
A useful export packing sheet includes product photos, dimensions, gross weight, packing materials, corrosion-control method, sealing procedure, lifting marks, inspection steps, and destination requirements. Review applicable carrier and destination rules separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is stretch film enough for machinery export?
Usually not by itself. Heavy machinery typically needs a properly engineered support and restraint system.
Can VCI film be used around machinery?
It may be suitable for compatible metal components if the formulation and packaging design are validated.
