CHAOYE PACKAGING KNOWLEDGE · PET STRAPPING
Learn how to select PET strapping dimensions based on load conditions, tools, joint performance, and test data.
1. Start with the package, not the strap size
The required strapping system depends on load mass, rigidity, movement during shipping, package edges, and the number and orientation of straps. Width and thickness alone do not define holding performance.
2. What width and thickness indicate
Strap dimensions influence cross-sectional area, but material quality and manufacturing process also affect strength and elongation. Compare tested breaking strength and allowable working conditions for the specific product.
3. Consider the joint
A strapping system can fail at the joint even when the strap itself has adequate tensile strength. Ask how the strap is intended to be sealed and evaluate joint performance with the selected equipment.
4. Match your tools
Confirm tool compatibility for both width and thickness. A nominally similar strap may feed or weld differently because of surface finish, dimensional tolerance, or material formulation.
5. Request evidence and samples
Provide the supplier with load photos, dimensions, handling conditions, and the intended strapping tool. Ask for specification sheets and representative samples. Verify strap tension, joint quality, and package integrity during trials.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does wider PET strap always hold more?
Not necessarily. Breaking strength, joint performance, and application conditions must also be compared.
Can one PET strap size work for every pallet?
Usually not. Different loads may need different dimensions or strapping patterns.
